Google Analytics - GA4 Custom Event Not Showing?

Have you ever experienced that the custom events you created are not showing in the event list nor the report even thought is seems that the event is firing fine as you can see them in the real time report? This happends because of a data threshold that hides data from the view when they do not surpass a minimum amount of data. 

 

In this writing, we will see why this happens and how we can get around it.

Cause

If you are managing more than one property, you have probably noticed that this kind of problem does not always happend. The reason for that is a data threshord only take action when you turn on Google Signals

 

When you turn on Google Signals, additional (enhanced) demographic data is collected and, among them, there exist s informaion that can be used to possibly indentify a certain user when the amount of data is too small. So the data threshord is a way of prevention from this to happen by showing the data only when the amount of data is high enough.

Solution

We can go around this problem with an easy setting. Go to 'admin' -> 'reporting identity' -> select 'show all'

Then select the 'device-based' option and click 'save'. This does not effect how data is collected but only changes whether a data threshord will be used or not.
